Hizb ut Tahrir Canada issued an official statement in response to allegations recently published by the Islamic Foundation of Toronto.
The following is Hizb ut Tahrir Canada’s statement (April 6, 2018):
With regards to the statement issued by Islamic Foundation of Toronto about Hizb ut Tahrir, we HT Canada would like to inform the Ummah about who we are and our position regarding the affairs of the Ummah:
Hizb ut-Tahrir is a political party that works with the global Muslim community to establish the Khilafah (caliphate) in the Muslim lands by solely using intellectual and political means.
We consider it sinful (Haram) to use violence to achieve our goal, as the Shari’ah (Islamic Law) forbids it due to the fact that RasulAllah (saw) did not use violence to bring about political change in Madinah, nor did he work through the corrupt system in Makkah to build the first Islamic State.
Consequently, our focus is to create awareness of the how the Islamic system correctly solves mankind’s problems – for both Muslims and non-Muslims – and to discuss/debate the ideas we disagree with in an intellectual manner.
The fact Hizb ut Tahrir is banned in many Muslim countries only reflects the corruption and tyranny of the illegitimate regimes ruling over the Ummah, who need to respond with oppression and brute force because they are intellectually bankrupt and unable to debate or discuss the ideas of Islam that we present, which have been extracted from the Quran and Sunnah.
Therefore any claims that Hizb ut Tahrir uses violence or terrorism to achieve its goals are absolutely rejected by the Hizb and by anyone who knows anything about the work of the Hizb.
We invite anyone who wishes to learn more about Hizb ut Tahrir to contact us and to read through our books and leaflets that are available for free online at www.hizb-ut-tahrir.info
