American Muslim scholar salutes Brunei for reinstating law on stoning gays

March 31, 2019 by ACD

Born in Houston, Texas, Daniel Haqiqatjou is a scholar of Islam. He attended Harvard University where he majored in Physics and minored in Philosophy.

On March 30, 2019 Daniel Haqiqatjou posted on his Facebook page the following statement “When will other Muslim countries follow suit?” accompanied with a link to his article titled: “Salute the Sultan! Brunei Reinstates Hudud [fixed punishments] for Sexual Deviance.”

Haqiqatjou’s statement and article were written in relation to the decision of Brunei to implement the Sharia laws from April 3, 2019 punishing sodomy, adultery and rape with the death penalty, including by stoning, and theft with amputation.

Here are excerpts from Daniel Haqiqatjou’s article “Salute the Sultan! Brunei Reinstates Hudud [fixed punishments] for Sexual Deviance” (March 30, 2019):

If you have had a rough week or are feeling down in the dumps, I have just the news to cheer you up. The Muslim country of Brunei is implementing hudud [fixed punishments] to crack down on sodomites and fornicators!

[…]

This is exactly right. The Sharia [Islamic Law] protects all of our rights, individually and communally. When rectum-sex enthusiasts are allowed to promote their gender-bending degeneracy openly, that deeply harms all of us. That brings down the moral character of society. That destroys the sanctity of marriage. That teaches the world that sexual desire — no matter how base, how deviant, how contrary to God’s will — is acceptable to pursue and, in fact, must be pursued.

The LGBT indoctrination program, however, doesn’t want you to recognize these harms. They want you to think gay sex acts are “victimless” and that marriage between men and women is not a sanctified institution. Rather, marriage, according to them, can be remolded into anything that society chooses: two men, two women, two men and one woman, three women and a horse, etc. There is nothing special or unique about the relationship between men and women that forecloses the possibility of LGBT marital options.

But we do reject this social constructionist nonsense. Allah created human beings in a certain way. Our bodies and minds are created in a certain way and only certain types of relationships allow human beings to flourish in this world and the next, while other types of behaviors lead to destruction and widespread suffering. LGBT relationships and relationships outside the confines of Islamic law are inherently destructive. And Allah tells us this clearly in the Quran when He describes one such society that had fallen into the muck of base degeneracy was destroyed: Qawm [the people of] Lut.

[…]

The expected implementation of the strict Islamic laws has drawn widespread criticism. Politicians in Europe and the United States have attacked the plans and raised concerns with Brunei.

“Stoning people to death for homosexuality or adultery is appalling and immoral,” former U.S. vice president Joe Biden said in a Twitter post on Friday. “There is no excuse – not culture, not tradition – for this kind of hate and inhumanity.”

Oscar-winning actor George Clooney has called for a boycott of luxury hotels owned by The Brunei Investment Company, such as the Beverly Hills Hotel, the Dorchester in London and the Plaza Athenee in Paris.

I think Muslims need to counteract any boycott by making Brunei their next vacation destination spot. Maybe some of these expensive spiritual tourism tours led by shuyukh [senior religious Muslim leaders] can make Brunei the next go-to site, maybe attend a caning or two so Western Muslims can experience first hand what implementing hudud [fixed punishments] actually means. Just a thought.

By the way, how silly that these Western politicians and celebrities can’t stand it that a Muslim country implements the Sharia. They are frothing with anger. Isn’t it great?
